That's a pretty big statement. When a cartoon is being compared to all the bigshot superhero movies.
EVE is definitely the coolest, most kickass heroine of them all.
So, random observation: does anyone else think EVE looks kind of like an owl? Like a snowy owl or something...

It's very nice to see EVE awarded with this praise as Summer's leading screen heroine!
This may be the closest she gets to a "Best Actress" or "Best Animated Performance" award (the latter of which should someday be added as a new Oscar category — as the teams of animators that put characters like EVE together should be recognized for their talent and efforts, too!)
To me, it's not so much sad that she beat human characters in this blogger's estimation — but instead a testament to the folks at Pixar as to how well they crafted and portrayed her character! Great work is great work, whether it's performed by one, or several people!
I look forward to eventually seeing "EVE Power" tee-shirts though (which naturally I couldn't really wear!) A shirt with just EVE pointing her blaster straight at the observer with her eyes narrowed wouldn't even need any words! . . . which would be very fitting for her character! ;D

...Which is why I fell for her ;D Ofcourse as of lately, I've been looking for ladies with similar personality traits (sans the fire power [maybe]), but to no avail But in anycase, Go Eve! Whoo! You go girl!

I agree that EVE is one of the most believable female characters I've seen on screen in a long time. Maybe one of the reasons why her character is so much better (and noticable) than others this summer is because WALL-E is such a character-driven story, whereas something like the Dark Knight puts more of its emphasis on action.

I have a fuzzy memory of some Miyasaki "sprites" from "Spirited Away" . . . were there any characters in that film anyone can remember that look very EVE-like? Or is my memory faulty?

Hm...I don't remember anything off the top of my head (then again, we're comparing spirits to a robot, so it may be hard for me to make the connection).

indeed, eve sommat reminds me of AndrAIa from reboot ( the one on the right.. duh ) the femme fatale companion to a lonly (albeit not totally alone) enzo (aka matrix later on in the series) (on the left), who is similarly naive and friendly, but still a force to be reckoned with if you cross her the wrong way.
