Like I've already said, she exhibits so much charm and personality with just an LCD screen. I love her frustrated groans as much as her giggling and sad expressions.

I think the really cool thing about EVE is that she is more than just the love interest. She is almost as important if not equally as important as the protagonist. What's cool is that she goes through the biggest character arc out of any of the characters in the film, including WALL-E. If you think about it, WALL-E doesn't change at all. the only change that happens with him is he finds the love of his life and isn't lonely anymore. But I can't really think of anything he learns from his experiences. The huge thing is the effect he has on everyone around him, especially EVE, which is what makes her so important. And that's rare with a story. Usually it's about what the protagonist learns from everyone and everthing that's going on around him. Not in this case though.

Actually, I'd argue that he does change. Certainly not as dramatically as EVE, but he does start the movie with different priorities than he has when it ends.

Anyway, I found it odd that EVE was ready to blow up anything at the drop of a hat when she came down to Earth. You would think that if she was looking for very scarce plant life, she would be more careful about creating huge explosions. Eve's directive is to search and protect the plant, which explains the utility of the gun, but I do agree that she is one trigger happy machine! Throughout the whole movie, she utilized her gun 13 times, not including the diagnostics done on her in the repair ward. She fired a total of 15 shots in all, 16 if you include the accidental shot caused by WALL-E in the repair ward. And yes... I counted!!! Also, I am wondering what EVE would do if she found a full grown tree... how would that fit in there?

Welcome! As to what EVE would do if she found a tree, my guess is that she would probably use her camera to take a video of the whole tree and then pull off a few leaves to keep inside her chamber to take back to the Axiom.

Hi! Thanks for the Welcome! As to what EVE would do if she found a tree, my guess is that she would probably use her camera to take a video of the whole tree and then pull off a few leaves to keep inside her chamber to take back to the Axiom. I guess that would make sense, haha Another EVE related question, if you folks don't mind: Towards the end of the movie, after EVE repairs WALL-E only to find that he's suffering amnesia, if you listen closely, she is humming something right before she gives him a kiss goodbye. Does anyone know what song she's humming? I suspect it's "It Only Takes a Moment", the part of the song where it says "...took a moment, to be loved a whole life long," but I'm not really sure

Yeah, I had assumed that's what it was she was humming, but I forgot to ask on this forum to confirm it. So, I'm glad someone else asked.

Remember, these EVE probes are being sent to earth every year. (AUTO refers to it as an "annual process") It takes years for a tree to become full-grown, so one of the probes surely would have found a young plant long before then.
Sort of related to that, I think about the fact that the particular moment we see in the movie is probably one of thousands of times Probe 1 (our EVE) has been sent to Earth looking for life. Personally, if I was sent to do a job thousands of times and every time, I "failed", I'd get a little frustrated and might get a bit trigger-happy myself. ;D

I have an eve related question.. What would happen if you pulled Eve's head off? 0_o (i know this is an odd question but its confusing me >.<) Would you be able to take it off? Or would you be able to take her head and walk away with it and nothing would happen? 0_o

I would guess you can't take her head completely away from her body without her shutting down. Not necessarily permanently, but I wouldn't see her being able to function without access to the systems that contained there. Her head seems to be attached to her body through some sort of force field. Her head can be pretty far away from her body, but there must be some limit to how far. When she's trying to get away from the large magnet on the ship, her head seems to stretch to the maximum length allowable for it to still remain part of her body. When she's was in the Repair Ward, the cleaning bot was able to clean her entire head, even the area which could be called her "neck" (and WALL-E is frightened he's cutting her head off). Just my brainstorming . . .
