I found myself liking EVE even more than WALL-E. She's cute and a badass at the same time.

I hope they don't make a sequel, even though Toy Story 2 was very well done. I wouldn't risk it.
Anyway, I found it odd that EVE was ready to blow up anything at the drop of a hat when she came down to Earth. You would think that if she was looking for very scarce plant life, she would be more careful about creating huge explosions.

I think EVE searched and examined everything before she blew it up, unless it posed a possible threat to her life.

I think it's interesting to observe the transition in EVE's behavior during the movie. At first she just seems to like WALL-E and find him amusing, but after she observes his kindness to her on her security camera output, she truly starts to understand how much he cares about her and how much she really cares about him in return. The part in the trash airlock where he tries to give her the plant, saying "Directive," and she tosses it away and lables him as her new directive brings tears to my eyes each time I watch it.

I agree completely. The development of that relationship was one of my favorite things about the film. By the way, welcome, dunno if I've seen you post before.

Wow OddsGirl, that's the second time (out of only 9 posts!) that you have perfectly summed up what transpired in one of my favorite scenes. Nicely done.
I found it interesting that EVE seemed to be pretty emotional (for a robot anyway) early on. Although the time frame isn't clear, (had she been scanning for days, years, decades, or centuries?) it seemed like she got frustrated by the fruitlessness of her searching fairly quickly. And that was before she had any interaction with Wall-E, so it wasn't just a case of his "humanity" rubbing off on her. By the way, did she swear after that last negative scan? Sure seemed like it!

I think the last scan was meant to be a faux swear that adults might pick up on and get a chuckle at. As for the time frame, I assumed that it was either days or weeks, possibly months, but no more than that.

It always sounds like she's swearing when GO-4 throws the plant down the garbage chute.
I only just realized that in the scene where EVE talks with WALL-E for the first time, she is saying "directive" in various other languages before she says it in English. I always thought she was saying complete robot jibberish before she actually said "directive."
I feel stupid now.

I think the first times she speaks where it sounds like "oo a oo" is robot speak, but yeah all the stuff when she switches are different languages. Very cool touch.

I found myself liking EVE even more than WALL-E. She's cute and a badass at the same time. ;D Yes. She's a robot who will take charge and get stuff done, and packs some serious firepower. And yet, she's got that laugh. I could tell that she was saying "directive" in different languages, but I haven't been able to determine what languages she was speaking in. And I always interpreted that "oo a oo" to mean "Who are you?" Don't know about any swearing...I guess I just didn't interpret it that way.

For some reason, the sound of her "scrolling" through possible words to see which one WALL-E would understand gave me the immediate impression that she was really, really highly-sophisticated and super smart. I'm not sure why I had that impression, but I remember that being the first time I thought -- "oh, wow -- she's a way, way out of his league!"
