That's exactly what I felt when I saw the film the first time. A really nice posh prison. I hadn't thought of that word, but, yes that's exactly what it is. Yes, that was one of the really clever and subtle ways of showing when an individual person "disconnected" from the "mainframe" life of the Axiom. I loved that so much. It really gives you a strong visual reminder that once one of the humans came in contact with WALL-E or were changed by the things happening because of him, they were forever changed. And one of the reasons I chose the reference to it for my avatar.

Axiom is a prison. Yet the people at Axiom seems didn't know it.
That's why when they Hyperjumping, I'm so happy. Finally these people are home! And the hyperjump scene was THE BEST hyperjump ever! I thought The Empire Strikes Back had the best, but now Wall-E came with the better executed Hyperjump!
