I wanted to avoid the opening weekend crowds, so I went the following Tuesday evening, July 1, the late (9:25 PM) showing — I just normally prefer it dark when I leave the theatre so the movie "stays with me" more. I went to my favorite classic theatre — an historic, one-screen small town movie house from the 1920s, which while not yet fully restored, has a wonderful atmosphere. Before the movie started, they played CDs from of a theatre organ, and Louis Armstrong's greatest hits (which included "La Vie en Rose" from WALL•E!)
Having seen Pixar movies just on video and DVD before, I mostly just finally wanted to see a Pixar film on the big screen. I thought WALL•E would be quite enjoyable, but nothing more.
However, I was so moved and blown away by how wonderful this film was though, that I just went back the very next evening to see it again! I would up seeing WALL•E 5 times at this classic theatre before DARK KNIGHT displaced it.

I went the Friday it came out (they had midnight showings the night before, though) at around 8/9 PM at the local "teen" hangout theater. It's also the best theater in town, so I was okay with braving those crowds. I sat down in the theater, surrounded by teenagers who were gabbing away, thinking "oh no, I'm not going to get to enjoy this at all." From the moment the movie started, they shut their mouths and did nothing but watch the movie, laugh, and cry. I was amazed at the power of this supposed "kids" movie to hold power over teens who are usually more into the sex and violence type of films. That's the moment I knew this film was something special, coupled with thinking the movie itself was amazing.

I saw it on July 5, 2008 at the local outdoor mall (also a teen hangout) From the moment the movie started, they shut their mouths and did nothing but watch the movie, laugh, and cry. I was amazed at the power of this supposed "kids" movie to hold power over teens who are usually more into the sex and violence type of films. Oddly enough, I actually thought it was more of a teen film than anything else. Particularly because of the cute characters and the even cuter, simple relationship that blossomed. It's the kind of thing that would appeal to girls at that age, evoking an [mocking] aaaawwwww[/mocking] reaction from them. Boy's would love this film too, and in some cases, probably try to imitate WALL-E's child-like innocence and curiosity... they kinda figure girls go for that kinda thing It's the perfect movie to watch for people on a date, as well as anyone else who just dreams about that kinda thing...

Heh, you must not know the teens I do. Anything to make their image not "cool and edgy" they generally don't go for.

Day it came out, first showing at noon. That's tradition with me for all Pixar films.
It was so ironic . . . there was some kind of Apple meeting going on in the hotel next door and apparently everyone used their "lunch break" to see it. So, I got to be in a geek crowd -- which was cool because they all laughed really hard at every Apple reference. WALL-E's start up sound was a particular favorite.

Ah I see, haha. I live in SoCal... maybe the teen's mentalities are different here from there. In anycase, the important thing is they shut up and you enjoyed the movie LOL! That would have been a sight to see

Yeah, I had a sense of being right in the middle of a pilgrimage . . . all the guys (all guys!) seemed to have a pretty good idea of what they were about to see and were so enthusiastic. It's great to see a fantastic film for the first time with people sitting around you who are really excited, knowledgeable and geeky. It's one of the great memories I'll always have about this film.

To be honest, I wasn't bent on seeing it much, I was dying to see it, actually, I had convinced my mother to drop me off at the 3:15 showing, naturally, children were screaming "WALL-E!!!" I wanted to be the guy that does that, not the little kids.

I saw it on Independence Day. Strangely, the theater was not very full...a complete reversal of the Independence Day a year ago, where a friend and I attempted to see At World's End and failed miserably because the next two showings were sold out.
