Here's one that I just remembered: on the first week after WALL-E's release, someone on IMDb claimed that the film's widespread critical and audience acclaim was voided because the majority used to believe that the Earth was flat and that blacks were inferior to whites.

I don't see how that's even relevant to WALL-E

And the majority of people throughout history ate food, slept at night and took in air. So, those are automatically void too because everyone has done them for centuries?
Sorry -- because fastdash is completely right -- this has absolutely nothing to do with WALL-E, but when I hear this "nonconformists" reasoning I just have to say something. I totally understand "the majority have never been right" argument, but you gotta be reasonable.
Some things are just universal. Especially great stories. And it's great when something of quality brings people together.

1. Pixar needs to take a lesson from Dreamworks. | Aug 1, 2008 5:39 am PT It seems like every time i go to see a Pixar movie i get that mushy feeling, but i'm not really entertained. Dreamworks seems to be better at creating movies that have romance or friendships while not shoving it in your face for the entire movie. For some reason, every time i go to see a new Pixar movie i can't help but think "oh great, another installment of Toy Story." First it was Toy Story under the sea, now its Toy Story in space. What's next Pixar? Toy Story featuring Rob Schneider? Found this on google Are you freakin' kidding me??? WOW. It bothers me the number of shallow minds we have in this world. It just gets worse and worse every year. If you didn't at least enjoy this movie, then you have have no soul to speak of. But what bothers me the most is the people who can only see it for it's political message. Even if they liked it because it teaches you to take care of the environment and all that jazz, a lot of times they don't even see what the movie is really about.

Whoa. Okaaaaaay . . . seriously I don't think someone who truly appreciated WALL-E would call him by a racial slur. I think we may have a bit of embellishment going on. And an overactive attachment to a thesaurus. Oh, and nothing adds to your credibility as a critic like adding weird photos of you making silly faces.

Thus how you are able to write your vitrolic reviews and not have tomatoes thrown at your face. Don't knock it when it's the only thing protecting you from the vegetable treatment.

All I can do now is pity him. How awful it must be to believe you must be so hateful to be respected.

Definitely. And to be wasting his time making fun of people when he could be spending his time improving his reviewing skills. Because it was definitely a poorly executed review.

Oh yeah, I remember reading that guy's original review. Okay let's see, referring to the character of WALL-E himself, he describes himself as being "agitated that Stanton doesn't take the character past infantilization or offer something more than pratfalls for our hero to undertake." Amusing. He utterly missed the point of the film, which is that WALL-E restores humanity to the human race. If WALL-E had never existed, no plant would have ever made it into the holo-detector, and the human race would literally be hostage to BuyNLarge for all eternity. I can't see how anyone would describe the journey the main characters went through as being a series of mere "pratfalls."
He also makes a point of denouncing Disney/Pixar. I absolutely hold no reservations about a film based on the studio that releases it. Disney is not responsible for the visions of Stanton and the WALL-E crew. Disney merely provided the money, the real brains behind the operation are the writers/directors/editors/etc. If this guy wants to be a serious film critic, he must leave all bias pertaining to the studio that releases a film at the theater door.

Well said. It just shows how little understanding he has of the industry too.
