Whoa, what a weird idea! But it fits. That Japanese woman just collide with someone's idea of "EVE is from Japan", haha.
Wall-E share the same doomsday-atmosphere with Blade Runner. And I just LOVE William Gibson's novels.

thx p.s the huge ad on the building reminded me of the ghostly b&l ads weilliam gibson? blade runner is based on the novel 'do androids dream of electric sheep' by phillip k penis.. i actually HAVE a copy of that book somewhere.

I know Blade Runner doesn't belong to William Gibson, I just thought they shared some resemblances. The skyscrapers crowded like steel tombs, the ever-wet street, the seems-never-stopping night-rain, the misty neon lights, people walking in and out of darkness...This is the doomsday atmosphere.
Even though I have only read "Burning Chrome", I have fallen for the taste of a post-modernism society. Can't help it.
