Exactly. And here's where I dither back and forth between "conspiracy" and "honest motive" with Operation Clean-Up. If OC was truly meant to succeed, BNL either underestimated the work or the WALL-Es were designed with higher technology than we might assume. If OC was just a sham, then the cheapest designs with the least amount of effort in the WALL-E design would make sense. I don't have an opinion either way, I just like to think about it and listen closely to what people here say. Just gives me something to think about when I'm doing boring data entry at work.

I love "their song"! That's officially the first Wall-E fanfic I've ever read in my life. I loved it because it was so beautiful and simple. I was listening to "It Only Takes A Moment" while reading along and I almost cried. I will read your other one as soon as I get the chance.

Oh I don't care about the facts anymore! The fact is, they're both awesome! Their Song actually reminds me of the slow dancing scenes from The Notebook and The Five People You Meet in Heaven movie

Wow, I never expected such discussion. I love it! It gets me all inspired to write more Actually, I've never seen either The Notebook or The Five People You Meet in Heaven. I can't quite recall what the source of inspiration for Their Song was...I think I just imagined them dancing to it and thought it would make a good one shot. Thank you for your kind words. Speaking of one-shots, I composed one last night for my favorite Autopilot. I plan to write much more for Auto, because he's such a fascinating character to explore. Please, tell me what you guys think. Musings of a Mutineer

Wow. I really, really like this. When I read how he compares himself to WALL-E (and the implication that he might be starting the same sort of "journey" WALL-E did), I was really taken aback. What a great one-shot character analysis. You know, I have to say, I'm a bit surprised by the fascination that a lot of fan fic writers have with AUTO. To me he's just a really good villian, but he seems to have been written and portrayed in the film in such a way that his character is creatively-inspiring to a lot of people. And I think getting a chance to hear how he might "feel" about all that happened in your story has helped me to see more why. Great work! (And just so you know . . . I'm a bit lazy this morning so I just copied this review for the one on fanfiction.net. )

The Musings fan-fic is amazing. I love it on every level. I was getting strong "Agent Smith" vibes from the speech patterns of AUTO in it, and that is apt considering the machine relationship. And it does make one think...it wouldn't be hard for one of the rogue robots, or even a human child, to get in there and press that switch. It makes you hope they are guarding the entrances, there's no telling what havoc a wheel with access to a giant spaceship could reek for every living and robot thing on Earth.

Thanks so much guys. Those are probably the kindest words anyone has ever given me in a review of one of my stories. All the positive feedback really inspired me. As such, I wrote another oneshot just last night...forgive me if it rambles a bit. I was rather sleepy when I composed it. A113Please, for effect, don't read the rest of this post until you have read the oneshot. (highlight to read) A113 is based on my belief Auto has a shot at redemption. I really think at some point, Wall-E's kind nature would overrule his fear and he would try to help Auto. Of course, it wouldn't be so easy, seeing how devoted Auto is to his directive. But I think eventually, Auto could change.

I got an email notification that you had submitted a new story since you're on my "favorite authors" list and I'm going right now to read it . . . All I can say is wow. I absolutely LOVE this. I love how you really got into AUTO's heart here. And that one paragraph about the "mentor" -- that really struck me hard because that would imply that WALL-E has made a remarkable act of forgiveness that makes me feel so good that I feel shivery just thinking about it. Definitely adding this one to my favorites list . . . (as long as you don't mind of course ) myadversaria.wordpress.com/2008/08/06/favorite-wall-e-fan-fic/

Wow, not one but THREE of my fanfictions are on your favorites. I am honored by this. Thanks so much, vanessa! I believe karma is in order, for you've been so incredibly kind about my various writings. Such praise really does motivate me to keep writing.
I was struck with the idea Wall-E could become Auto's mentor rather randomly a few days ago. It occurred to me based on a comment someone made about Musings of a Mutineer, about how Auto could be started on the same path as Wall-E. I really think Wall-E would want to help him become "alive", because Wall-E's just such a soft-hearted, forgiving guy (heck, he forgave Eve for trying to kill him with her laser ;D ).

On WALL-E's ability to forgive, absolutely. It's one of the qualities that I love about his character -- he's humble enough to understand that sometimes others act out of ignorance, not necessarily out of pure hate and he doesn't take things personally when they do. You captured that so well. I also appreciate that you write very short stories. I'm not saying longer stories aren't also good -- but sometimes a simple and concise glimpse into a character's feelings is more effective than a long, drawn-out expose. It's refreshing to read fan fic where the writer just "says what she means and means what she says." Some of it -- especially most of the WALL-E material I've read -- is lots and lots and lots of pages saying virtually the same thing over and over again. You add value to the vision of the character without beating the reader over the head with it. Oh, and thanks for karma just for my being an audience! I love getting credit just for showing up!

Those last two fanfics are amazing! The two stories precisely remind me of John Champlin Gardner's Grendel, and joins the ranks of such books. Thanks for posting! Based on what I've seen in your writing, I can tell you're a very classy person with a brilliant mind.

Thank you all again for your kind words. I'm rather fixated on the idea of Wall-E being Auto's mentor, and as such, I wrote another composition using that idea. This was sort of something I wrote to relieve some stress. I'm about to take a journey myself, so I decided to impliment that idea with Auto. Step Into the Sun

(Okay, that disclaimer was just priceless. Worth the price of admission all on its own. ;D) Very, very, very nice. I never thought of the obvious fact that AUTO had never seen a real sun. His only experience with light has been artificial. That's a very poignant visual "anchor" and you used it well. Again, fantastic work. Your work makes waiting for the DVD release more bearable . . .
