I like how they compare it to icons more North Americans would recognize, like Beatrix Potter and Winnie the Pooh's forests, in order to garner more support. But regardless of the cultural significance of the forest, it's likely to be significant to the animals who live in it, as well as the human population that surrounds it but isn't aware of the significance of the forest on a conscious level. We, as humans, tend to not realize the beauty that exists around us and its importance until it's gone.
