My thoughts mirror yours exactly. This is Pixar...they produce some of the most beautifully animated films ever made. From what I've seen, the animation in Clone Wars isn't even in the same league.
And that's really kind of sad that Clone Wars hasn't even made half of what WALL-E made in its opening weekend...I would expect more from a Star Wars movie. But George Lucas has fallen so far from what he once was during the original trilogy.
Also, it looks like once again we see animation being dumbed down for the kids. I think it's Lucas who needs to learn from Pixar, not the other way around.

I don't think Clone Wars should have even been released in theaters. All it really is, essentially, is a TV pilot. George Lucas has really lowered the quality of the franchise, which is unfortunate.

Yeah....Clone Wars wouldn't even scratch the surface of WALL-E's gross. And considering it has the major Star Wars fanbase behind it...that's saying something huge about its quality. WALL-E soldiers on and it scored better at the box office than Ratatouille, so I have no doubt it will outdue Clone Wars.

Pixar is too humble to admit that they are the Best on their game right now. Lucas should learn from them (Spielberg too) I remember reading Stanton interview and he said that he isn't the talented one. He hired the talented people to make this movie. What a guy! (Sorry if my English were bad. I'm from Indonesia. English is not my mother language. But I'll try hard for you to understand me)

bima, your English is perfect! Yes, I love how the Pixar directors credit the people they work with and don't hog all the glory. Because, really, creating animation is all about teamwork.

You're doing great with your English, bima, no worries! If we ever can't understand you we'll kindly ask you to clarify, but you're doing great for now.

Haha, thx, MD. Since we're in a different side of the earth it will be hard to keep online when you guys awake, if you know what I mean. But I guess I could sneak in and jump in the forum at the dawn.

I keep pretty odd hours as it is, sometimes early morning, sometimes afternoon, and sometimes late at night, so I'm sure to be on at some point when you are.

Yes, I love how the Pixar directors credit the people they work with and don't hog all the glory. Because, really, creating animation is all about teamwork. Quite unlike the arrogance Lucas manages to pull off in that article. "I'll" teach you, indeed. The man's only talent these days is hacking away at already well-made movies until there's nothing left but mediocre CGI. And I very much doubt he goes anywhere near animation programs on a computer... more like his many employees will teach them. Though I wouldn't want Pixar "learning" anything from Lucasfilm, personally. Lol, it kills me that they say SW fans will still love it in spite of the lack of the "political themes" of the prequels. I'm not aware of anyone who was a fan prior to the release of the prequels that didn't entirely hate that aspect (and many others) of them. It didn't help that the politics, or whatever passes for itin the prequels, was puerile, oversimplified and unrealistic in the extreme.

You know, I'm a huge Star Wars fan and I always will be; I liked the prequels(especially ROTS) and I used to defend George Lucas at the time of their release -- used to, because I'm THROUGH with him now. The way he keeps exploiting and abusing his fanbase is simply inexcusable.
This shouldn't even be a comparison at all because Clone Wars wasn't designed to be a feature film to begin with. It's moldy fast-food leftover to the five-star cuisine that is WALL-E.

You know, I really appreciate your perspective, Viva because I'm not a huge Star Wars fan myself (more Star Trek if anything), but I can appreciate why people really get into the whole mythology of it because the original films were so well done and the concepts Lucas introduced were very interesting.
I'm glad to hear the perspectives of people who ARE fans of the saga because I don't really feel that I can knock something when I'm not in on all of the nuances and substories/plots/characters that have come from the original saga. The impression I got was that this was a cheap knockoff, but I didn't feel I had any right to judge with my limited knowledge.

The original Star Wars was actually a sophisticated movie that introduces one of the best ideas ever come to science fiction movie. But sadly, it didn't appear much at the prequels. The prequels - somehow - was executed horribly it was painful to watch. I used to defend the prequels and also Lucas.
But it seems Lucas was crossing the line with his arrogance and his confidence that no matters how ugly the movie will be, the fanboys will watch it and bring another fortune to him.
Sadly, we already knew the answer. It seems that Clone Wars won't save him this time.
