When I say "during the trial", I mean the time when the scientists of BnL tested her stability around the year 2100. She Is the first ever-existing EVE Probe, she is the oldest, so maybe the most rebellious unit compared to her "sisters". I totally agree that she already pocess a personality before meeting Wall-E.
Someone has mentioned that EVE's probing was an "annual event", I still haven't found the line. I guessed that EVEs were sent to earth every several years; they are only active on earth£»when they were brought back to Axiom, after being cleaned and checked and¡¡data-updated and repaired (if defected), they were put into that cocoon shell (EVE's first appearance in movie) and kept until next launching. So, for most of the time, EVEs were actually sleeping. Assumed that they can only develope their "rebellious trait" when awake, chance were small.

It's interesting to think that Eve spent most, if not all, of her awake time on Earth looking for plant life. So earth is probably all she knows. Therefore, she's not much different than Wall-E. It's even possible that they've seen each other before. But considering the look on Wall-E's face when he first sees her in the movie, it's not likely. She was probably sent to different parts of the world each time she went to earth.

another one of my favorite eve mometns is when the captain is looking at eve's memories and eve sees for the first time the recording from when she was inactive and wall-e was caring for ther the whole time until the ship came to pick her up.

A pair of glowing eyes lurking in the darkness. LOL the more I look at that scene the stronger the urge of me to double up laughing.

Yeah, that is so cool! And funny at the same time! The annual part . . . when you get a chance to see the film again . . . when AUTO is talking to the Captain (he tries 2 times to get the Captain to look at EVE, but each time the Captain has some other concern: coffee, morning announcements), the second time he says, "Sir, the annual --" and, of course, is interrupted with "12:30? AUTO why didn't you wake me . . ." I'm enjoying the discussion on EVE's age . . . I never really thought about that before . . .

I just remembered, I also like the part where GO-4 takes the plant out of the Captains hands and does that hissy thing. The Captain yells "This is Mutiny! EVE, arrest him!"
I love how she springs into action holding the gun to GO-4 and ordering him to return the plant to her in robot language.

I found it sweet that while all the humans were cheering on the captain as he tried to regain control of the ship from AUTO, EVE was absolutely focused on WALL-E as he was being crushed by the holo-detector; EVE never lifts her eyes up to look at the screen, or anything else for that matter, only WALL-E.

And even the part after that, where they hyperjump, she keeps yelling "WALL-E!". You could just imagine tears rolling down her LCD

Wasn't that amazing? And you could just feel the desperation she was feeling because there she was saving the humans from being crushed and yet she couldn't help him. That sequence is so powerful on so many levels.

I knooow! I definitely noticed that! I thought it was so powerful. It's so amazing how her only purpose in getting the plant in the holo-detector is so she can get to earth where she can fix Wall-E. She's completely focused on that. As soon as she takes Wall-E and flies out of the garbage airlock, she just keeps looking straight ahead, completely focused. And when there is anyone standing in her way, she just flies right past them.

That sequence is so powerful on so many levels. I believe this was one of the scenes that really stuck with my after my first viewing. It's so well done. Kind of off topic, but I was wondering...Do EVE and WALL-E actually crash into the Holo Detector, or does she just drop him really quickly and he drops the plant?
