Which song from the soundtrack is your favorite?

From Thomas Newman's score, to La Vie En Rose, to Peter Gabriel's Down to Earth, what song(s) are your favorite on the WALL-E OST? For me, it's a three way tie between EVE, Define Dancing, and Down to Earth.

I think Down to Earth has got to be my overall favorite. I also really like 2815 A.D., Foreign Contaminant, and Define Dancing. I also get Put On Your Sunday Clothes stuck in my head REALLY easily. All I have to do is think of the first few words, and it's in my head for like an hour.

"WALL-E's Theme" . . . hands down. I could listen to that all day long.

But truly, the whole soundtrack is phenomenal.

Either Define Dancing or Horizon 12.2. Both are gorgeous. I LOVE Down to Earth as well.

A perhaps unusual favorite track of mine is #29 - Rogue Robots. For me, it's where the film kicks into high gear. EVE and WALL•E are firmly in love and united now with a plan, and they are just soaring down the Axiom's corridors together. I love the energy of both the scene and the music!

A second favorite of mine is #36 - It Only Takes A Moment. To me this perfectly captures the love that WALL•E and EVE are expressing to each other non-verbally in the final moments of the film. I've played it over and over at times, and also played the full version of the song I have from the Hello Dolly 1994 revival original cast soundtrack. Stanton picked the perfect final lines from the full song for the film here!

The whole WALL•E Soundtrack is great though . . . and it has me out looking for a "Best of Louis Armstrong" CD now. The historic theatre I first saw WALL•E at played a Louis Armstrong CD ahead of the previews (including the same "La Vie en Rose" cut), and it set a great atmosphere in the auditorium ahead of the film . . . much nicer than the mindless video most cineplexes run now.

I love that song too. It's such a powerful part of the movie. You can just sense Eve's determination to save Wall-E. She just looks in one direcction and keeps going as fast as she can without stopping for anything. One particular part in that song, right at 0:52, always gives me goosebumps whenever I hear it.

One of the things I like about Newman's music -- how he uses "instruments" that you don't think of as instruments. The music box melody in "Static" is so poignant. He could have used violins or something haunting -- but that child-like, delicate sound like a music box just is so perfect. He did the same thing for one piece in "A Series of Unfortunate Events" and it's just so unconventional yet so perfect.

I know. I love the instruments he uses. Like the guitar in "Eve" and "Define Dancing". I didn't even know that was a guitar. OH! Just a little bit of trivia: did anypme know that Peter Gabriel co-wrote those two songs? Or so I have read.

Probably Define Dancing, Down to Earth, and Horizon 12:2. I also like The Axiom, which few of you would probably pick. It just sounds really poetic and lovely. The whole soundtrack does.

My favorite tracks would have to be...

1. 2815 AD - it's a perfect, haunting track that works so well with the images of a desolate Earth.

2. EVE - This scene is so majestic, and the track is beautiful. It works so well because in this scene, EVE is flying alone and WALL-E can only watch her from the ground in awe. Later in the film, they play the same music when WALL-E finally gets the chance to "fly" with her in space.

3. First Date - It's hard to describe this song, but it is utter genius.

4. Define Dancing - This song is absolutely beautiful and it works so well as a "companion" to the EVE track.

5. Fixing WALL-E - It starts out somber, but then ends with a punch of determination.

6. March of the Gels and the Holo-Detector - I don't think anyone's listed either of these yet. They've got a grand "we are finally accomplishing this task" feel to them.

7. Both Hello Dolly songs - Stanton was right, it was such a good idea to mix old-fashioned music with a futuristic space film. This was genius.

8. Down to Earth - If this doesn't win Best Original Song, I will cry.

You mean no one else enjoys "Eye Surgery" as much as I do? It sounds so quirky and beautiful to me.

Speaking of quirky, "WALL-E" is a good one as well.

"2815 A.D." is so great in that it doesn't sound like it belongs in a G-rated film, but it fits the apocalyptic landscape beautifully.

However, my favorite is probably "EVE." It puts images of flying through the sky into my mind.

And, of course, "Down to Earth" is memorable as well.

Oh, love "Eye Surgery" . . . it's perfect Newman . . . very myserious and eccentric. My only gripe is that it's so short.
