I'm not completely sure I'm seeing this right, but, right next to the No Smoking sign in WALL-E's trailer, there appears to be a broken shelf on the floor that looks like it has a few videocassettes in it. Of course, "Hello, Dolly!" he keeps in the toaster (probably a place of honor).
If I'm right and he does have other videos in his collection, what other movies (or any other film content -- documentaries, etc.) do you think he might also watch?

Now THAT I hadn't even thought of, but it totally works on so many levels. Definitely some Buster Keaton and possibly Harold Lloyd too . . .

I don't have a screencap, but I can try to get one, although I won't really have time until Wednesday or later.
I do have some ideas for a good DVD collection for WALL-E:
2001: A Space Odyssey Star Wars: The Original Trilogy Blade Runner Hello Dolly I Am Legend Short Circuit Short Circuit 2 E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial

I'm sure there's a lot of chick flicks in there since Wall-E is such a romantic ;D

I agree . . . I just can't see him being interested in stories that mirror his life or are about robots ("I Am Legend", "Short Circuit", etc.) I think he'd be interested in films that are completely different from what he experiences day in and day out. I mean, you don't get much more opposite post-apocalyptic Earth than "Hello, Dolly!"
I would see him gravitating toward musicals, obviously, ("Singin' in the Rain" is on TCM at this moment and I could totally imagine him dancing to "Good Morning" . . .) but primarily films that are very upbeat, simple, bright, cheery . . . not too existential, more fluffy.
Or am I totally off the mark? Do you think he'd be more serious and "Hello, Dolly" is a deviation from his normal tastes?

My list was just more of an "in-joke" list type of thing that writers would throw in there, not actual films that the character would be interested in.
