Thanks to Swan for the tip. On www.google.com, a search for "wall-e forum" brings us up as the #1 result. A search for "wall e forum" brings us up as #2. Unfortunately a search for "wall*e forum" doesn't seem to bring us up on the first or second page, and I think some people may've got the mistaken idea early on that the * was a replacement for a dash or interpunct.

Hey, that's cool! I just tried it myself! This could help us to get even more members!

We dropped to #2 for some reason. But a search for WALL*E Forum now shows us at #3!

I don't see how the site that's beating us, MovieTome, is even competing. They don't even have a full page of topics.

I wish I understood how this worked. Now we're below Rotten Tomatoes and Amazon.com's WALL-E Forum's too. It seems strange, considering we're focused solely on WALL-E, but I guess it's based solely on hits and we must be slowing down on unique hits or something. And of course obviously Google doesn't/couldn't take into account quality of posts....but Rotten Tomatoes...seriously? Ah well, we're still #2 as "wall e forum", and #1 as "wall*e forum".

I think it's one of those situations where you have to introduce your friend Ben Franklin (or a couple hundred of them) to a Google Executive

Well, all the more reason that everyone's efforts to do "word of mouth" through links in sigs, blogs, etc. is really worthwhile. Just so long as the serious WALL-E fans can find us, it's good.
