A fantastic book! If you like it, did you know he wrote a "sequel" called "Tales from Watership Down"? It's not as good, but it's kind of a "catch up with the characters in about a year" series of short stories and introduces some new (and actually more complex) characters.
I have pet rabbits and my little black male has those attacks that Fiver has in the story. They're actually kind of scary to watch, but once he calms down again, he's just fine.

I saw that book one, actually. I was looking for Watership Down for the longest time, but every time I would look all I'd find is the "Tales Of" book. I dunno how it is that I finally found the copy I have now, but it was at the same place IIRC. I haven't read Tales, but if it's a decent followup I'll definitely consider it.

The sequel is just okay really. If you end up loving the book, read the sequel. But if the book is just average to you, don't bother. I read it because I read anything I can find about rabbits. (Another obsession of mine. )

Hehe. Well, I'll definitely never be obsessed about rabbits, but I do quite like Watership Down.
