I agree that Cars is the weakest effort to ever come out of the Pixar canon, but I most certainly do not hate it.
I give it an 8/10. Pixar's other films are 10/10s with a couple of 9/10s. It's a good movie with endearing characters. But it suffers from an overlong running time with scenes that drag, and the story lacks the emotional, awe-inspiring punch that IMO makes Pixar films truly extraordinary.
Some have bemoaned the fact Pixar is making a sequel to it, but I'm actually very optimistic. Cars has plenty of room for improvement, and Pixar would never make a sequel unless they had a story they genuinely wanted to tell. I trust that they'll make the necessary improvements to make the sequel something truly worthwhile.

It was alright, it wasn't the best movie out there, but it isn't the worst, just one of the few Pixar movies that aren't so well recieved.

An 8/10 is about what I'd give Cars as well, although I've rated certain other Pixar movies that low too.

I think it was very overhyped because it had been a while since Pixar had released a film. I've only seen the movie once, and that was while it was still in theaters. Honestly, I think it is the worst Pixar film. My dad said that if you aren't really into NASCAR, this won't be a film for you, and I agree with him. I think a lot of the movie dragged.
Maybe I should see it again. I don't know...
