I REALLY LOVE THIS MOVIE! I love the spiritual Zionistic (if that's a word) idea behind God's thumb.
Oh! I can just go on and on and on! Thanks for posting about it!

The problem is... I don't know where to start!
Oh man, I haven't seen that movie in a looong time! I think it was freshman year of highschool since I've seen it! I'm totally geeking out right now because I just realized I have a movie I must watch again that's no longer fresh in my mind (aside from WALL-E)

Hey, if I'm stuck in bed with this dumb flu, I'll probably watch it tomorrow. My favorite line to quote: "Excuse me?"

Outrageously Awesome!
Mine is: "I can fix that." It's so concise, but says so much! I tend to use it a lot now!
If I'm feeling sadistic though, I say: "I can fix the holes in your roof, but I can't fix that"
Jumping subjects here, I love how the relationship between Kate and the Onion Salesman is so taboo (considering the ignorance of the era). Oh! A lot of the content in that movie is pretty adult stuff!

Exactly. I loved the book and the film because the story doesn't shy away from serious history and how the mistakes of the past have affected the present. And yet it's still a very hopeful message -- that we can help to undo the pain of the past just by doing right in the present. I love "kid" entertainment that doesn't try to gloss over reality -- that's why I like Roald Dahl and Shel Silverstein's work.
Jon Voight was so perfect as Mr. Sir. He was even better than what I pictured in my mind when I read the book. The scene where his face is all swollen up from the rattlesnake nail polish was so funny and when he freaks out and starts throwing things, I still laugh.
I also read once that Steven Spielberg was so impressed with Shia LaBeouf's acting in the film that he decided someday he would work with him. I thought LaBeouf was really good and handled the role really well. All the kids did a great job -- no overacting or silliness.

I just watched Holes again! OH BOY! That was fantastic! I forgot how well this movie was made! I feel it's a bit underated. I also just found out that the warden was played by Sigourney Weaver, haha!
Man, this movie is now way up there along with WALL-E on my list!
I still can't believe some of the language and content... especially for a Disney movie!

Some of the parts are rather creepy as well... like the ghost of Sam still walking around the lake, and Sam's dead mule.
Ah! I'm just totally geeking out right now! Outrageously awesome overload!

The DVD is actually really good. The director commentary includes both the director and Louis Sachar. (Although -- maybe it's just me -- but Sachar gets a little snippy at times. ) They also included the kids doing "commentary", but it's so silly because they just spend the whole time goofing around and talking about personal things that we as the audience have no idea about.
