Two of my favorite films of all time. WOW. Both films deal with controversial material that was never meant to be touched in a family film. The Lion King dealt with a child who is tricked into believing that he killed his father, and runs away from home. You know! FOR KIDS! And throughout the edgy musical number Be Prepared, we get numerous references to Satan, Hitler, and one reference to Greek mythology. ALSO FOR KIDS! WALL-E deals with armageddon/the apocalypse, and offends many Wal-Mart shoppers. It reveals that Wal-Mart will take over the world in less than one hundred years from now, and the horrible way consumerism is handled leaves the Earth toxic. Many die, while some get to evacuate in a series of giant spaceships. FOR KIDS! The robots aren't the controversial part of the plot. Anyway, I could never choose between these two movies. Note: Yes, the "for kids" remarks are references to The Nostalgia Critic's review of Pokemon: The First Movie.

Done.
The movie was extraordinary, and heartwarming -- and not as pessimistic, to me, as people often suggest.
And the focus was love, distilled to the absolute essence.
Definitely worth the vote!

I had to look up what Cloverfield was to understand some of what was going on over there! Nevertheless, I performed my WALL•E duty, registered, responded, and voted — bringing the poll to 13 to 9 (or 59%) in favor of WALL•E.
I've seen both films (many times each now!), and while LION KING has many admirable qualities, it represents (forgive the pun) the tail end of a 2nd Golden Age of Disney animation, and while it does have its moments, LION KING doesn't break nearly as much ground in terms of innovation and landmark storytelling as our beloved WALL•E does.
But wow, the posts and graphics just seem so much better (and even just plain nicer) over here on the WALL•E Forum than on Cloverfield! I think I'll only pay visits over there when you guys tell me there's another WALL•E-related poll happening!
